साक्षी का धर्म

देव कहाँ; पत्थर की ठंडक में, या भीड़ की आदत में,

देव नहीं ओढ़े हुए परदे की काँपती परछाईं में,

जो मुझे देखता रहे; वही बैठा है मेरे भीतर की तन्हाई में,

मैं ही जब-जब छिपता हूँ, वह और उजला होता है मौन में।

धर्म नहीं ऊँच-नीच की भाषा में, न शोभा के गहने में,

धर्म वही; जो थामे जीवन, टूटते रिश्तों के जाल में,

सत्य का दीपक कम दिखता, पर जलता है लोभ की आँधी में,

और अहिंसा की राख में भी, करुणा मुस्काती रहती है हाथ में।

स्वधर्म की राह टेढ़ी सही; पर अपनी ही रेखा है कर्म में,

फल का मोह जकड़ता है, जैसे धूल जम जाए दर्पण में,

मैं-मैं की मैल उतरती है, जब साक्षी टिकता है साँस के क्रम में,

तब कामना शोर मचाए; और विवेक जवाब दे धीमे “थाम” में।

जीवन नदी; धाराएँ मुड़तीं, किनारे बदलते पल-भर में,

नाम-निशान सब ढह जाते, जब खड़ा हो काल के द्वार में,

साथ वही जाता है जो बनकर संस्कार ठहर जाए अंतर में,

ईश्वर “कहाँ” नहीं; “कैसे” है: कैसे जियूँ, कैसे रहूँ; अंत में।
