When Two Worlds Collide

When Joy and Sadness meet

In a single moment

Does it become a memory

I gently reminisce with fondness

Or is it shoved to the very back of my head

Stained with sheer embarrassment?

Perhaps Joy and Sadness are always together.

Like how the light peeps through my curtains—

Where there is dark, there is also light.

Like how in remembering a memory—even the good ones

(Especially the good ones)

There is pain alongside happiness

As if there were a parallel universe

Where only Joy exists;

Where only Sadness exists.

But in this universe there are both, to remind us

Of how wonderful it is to remember

How beautiful it is to miss something

And how grateful I am for Sadness

To remind me of the magic that Joy has given.
