Greetings!

I am Dr, Sana Taher a dentist by profession and a published author, residing in UAE.

My book Aurora, The Dawn, book of poems is available on all platforms across the globe.

Herewith, I am submitting three of my poems for this competition.

The first poem is pertaining to the current situation in the world. With the uncertain times and unpleasant news to be heard, this poem reflects upon my inner thoughts and a retrospective point of view of the overall geopolitical scenario.

The second poem is from my published work Aurora, The Dawn.

It depicts how we as humans are microscopic in relation to the vast universe and that we are all vulnerable within the Almighty’s Great presence.

The third poem is a take on the philosophical perspective of life through it’s turbulent and good times.

All three poems are an ode to my inner thoughts.

Victory!!

There is turmoil,

There is chaos,

There is uncertainty.

It is volatile,

Logic seems futile,

They want to hurt,

They want to tear,

They want to grab and justify.

When shall it end,

The desire runs through a bottomless pit.

Young lives, green life,

All things vital,

All appear irrelevant,

In the madness to victory.

Victory! whose victory.

Wars bear no wining sides.

Decades of structure and history,

In seconds erased,

Yet, man in jubilation resides.

Every child’s tear screams for it to end.

To end it all for once ,

The turmoil, the chaos.

The forgotten childhoods, bring them back.

For war bears no wining sides,

There lies no victory in ruins and broken hearts.

The divine…

Feeling the sand sink underneath the feet,

Feeling the warm embrace of the setting sun,

Feeling the breeze running through the hair.

Arms open, stretched out wide,

An overwhelming tranquil bliss,

Enclosing in the openness.

The calm waves of the sea,

Gushing gently away,

Rhythm of the heart in sync.

The gulls take flight in the orange blue sky,

The sun sits on the ocean as it appears to slowly go down.

Stars begin to appear and

The night reclaims it’s domain.

The waves still gushing,

The breeze still crisp and fresh.

The sea running beyond infinity,

Even in darkness,

Its majestic vastness boggling the mind.

The sea and the sand,

The sky and the stars,

The sun and the moon,

All Divine and immaculate in their presence.

Makes us feel minuscule,

Oblivious almost.

Yet we walk on earth like we possess it all,

We want all control,

All the wealth and all the glory.

We have a mind that helps us believe a delusion,

The myth that we have reached the pinnacle.

But, in reality,

We are merely a speck in this vast universe,

We are nothing, but for the divine’s creation.

Tides of time..

Tides of time sweep away,

The moments we lived,

The struggles we survived,

The echoes of laughter and cries,

To engrave in our minds only the memories.

So, from start to finish,

The footsteps we take,

Carve a niche on the sands of time.

For to be remembered

Or perhaps forgotten.

We walk through space.

Under the starry nights,

To watch our story unfold.

To ponder over the elapsed time,

To forgive and move on.

Neither to wonder over the losses we bore,

Nor to fret over the hurdles we climbed.

But to live,

And walk through the sunset,

To leave footprints on the sands of time.
