THE REAL OWNER

(Poem)

The humble gardener of the farm house

Works in the garden, nurtures the plants.

His young son of twelve wanders around,

Climbs tree, feeds the fish, plays with animal.

Around the building standing boastfully

In the vast campus bounded with walls,

Trees peep in the sky with lofty branches.

Birds come and go, sing happily there.

In front of the house and also in the rear

Plants grow in the well crafted gardens,

Variety of flowers bloom in all seasons,

Insects fly there, butterflies enjoy feast.

Near the boundary beside the orchard,

In the nice pool with crystal clear water

Bounded by tiled pavements all the sides

Fish of many breeds and colors are grown.

Squirrels climb hurriedly in coconut trees,

Rabbits run around in grasses of the field,

Cows lick their babies with great affection,

Cocks crow at dawn to break the silence.

The little boy plays with insects and fish,

Feeds the squirrels, talks with the sheep,

Flowers of the garden, birds and the rabbits,

Give him company in his innovative games.

The palace and gardens, the trees and the pool,

Aptly designed for luxury and entertainment,

Meticulously built by owner with huge wealth,

Display his enormous power, money and pride.

Flocks of rich men and women in costly cars

Come at the weekend to spend the evenings.

They sit at the lounge, talk, dance and sing

Together enjoy drinks and sumptuous meals.

They hardly go to the pool and observe fish,

See the squirrels, the birds and the trees.

They don’t look at animals or talk with them,

They are too busy to see those trifle things,

They go back in flock once the party is over,

Leave the farm house back again to the boy.

The trees and the animals are all his subjects,

He rules them all as their crownless king.

No one disturbs any more in his kingdom.

The flowers and animals laugh in joy again.

The little boy is the real owner of the place.

He who built it is a mere honorable guest.

On the branches of the age old trees

Those stand erect surrounding the green lawn

Of the vast compound of the palace,

Birds of different breeds and colors fly about all day long.

On the flowers of the tiny plants

At the edge of the nicely designed garden near the gate

Of the lofty building standing boastfully

Colorful butterfly, honey bees and insects sit to collect honey.

In the large pool of crystal clear water

At the rear portion of the land near the long boundary wall

Where tiled pavement run on all sides

Different fish , small and big, swim happily for the whole day.

Rabbits play in the ground, search food in grasses,

Cows in the cowshed
