CALL OF THE UNKNOWN

In one sunrise dawn of my early youth

When the earth was ready to greet the day

Spraying the gold dust on high forest trees

Along her gorgeous range of snow clad hills,

He came with his dreamy eyes, unkempt beard,

called me to come out and go with him.

I was busy in ascending the ladder of life

To achieve the pinnacle with all my dreams,

Success was alluring me towards a golden life.

How could I accept his call leaving those.

Assured him, I must go with him one day,

Once my job ends, I can free myself.

He came again, but all the worldly things

Kept me busy with routine of tedious jobs,

My heart leapt with joy of going with him,

Very much wished to leave my cage of life.

Still I backed out, asked for few more years

Till my duties to family and children end.

At my doors he kept on knocking at times,

Called me to run away breaking all chains,

But I refused him each time against my will,

As my tasks were coming like unending flow.

A lifelong battle of ‘yes’ and ‘no’ went on

Causing a deep wound that bled in my soul.

Days are declining, darkness approaching me,

Still from inside I hear his constant voice,

calls me to step out, to go to the infinite sea.

The whole life badly I wished to respond him,

But kept waiting for the waves of sea to stop

Standing at seashore with an unknown fear.
