The Music of Magic
Almost like pulling a rabbit out of a hat,
artists conjure an idea out of thin air.
Inspiration whispers to them
from a deeper, hidden world,
that they always lose their way to,
though they've been there before,
arriving through a different door, each time.
From that silent womb of nothingness
they return with something to share.
Art becomes the only language
able to create changes in consciousness
by manipulating symbols, sounds or images.
Art becomes the token of the artist's travel
back from the magical to the material, and to
the one indulging in the artwork, the reverse.
Indeed to cast a spell, is simply,
to spell, like writers weave words,
that possess our imagination,
painting events and emotions
out of pure fiction, but, nonetheless,
are true in a deeper way than facts.
The power of art cannot be found
in the work itself, but to where it takes us.
Who can deny the time-traveling sorcery of music?
Unlocking our hearts with its potent potion of memory,
every note, a syllable that speaks
what no words can reveal,
every scale, unravels a mood,
stirring our emotions,
with an invisible wand.
A dance of vibrations,
irresistible in their magnetic pull,
they return with something to share.
