Poetry

I am trying to sharpen this sword of poetry,

so that whatever I cut

will bleed ink

and supply me with endless words.

I long for crowds

to crowd my empty space

and consume what I have prepared -

in a restaurant for words,

offered whole,

with no abbreviations or apostrophes,

so that in the end

people will say the meal was well done,

not medium rare.

While doing my work

I wear an apron,

not because I consider ink to be messy -

it is because just as when you paint,

the paintbrush,

or in this case the pen,

writes back to you

and on you,

and I don't want to miss the message.
