Jealousy: That Green-toothed Snake

Alessandra Jade

And jealousy is

A silver blade

That slivered me

And mincemeat made

And slithered free

From dappled shade

Into to the sun

To bask and bake.

Jealousy is

The green-toothed snake

That drew my blood

And jests did make

And from that blood

Did crystalize

The flashing light

Of green-stained eyes.

Jealousy is

A vile disease

That did my bones break

And lungs did squeeze

And from it came

That blasted bird

Around my neck:

Upon my trees.

Jealousy is

The curse of ice

To carpet and frost

And hence drain life;

And from that fruit

I bid my rite;

Jealously am I

A thing that bites.
