Heartbreak

“

The world smiled as of daffodils bright,

The golden yellow streaks lighter than the heart,

Tressing the softness with whispers,

Promising of innocence. Of naivete.

Moonlight spilled caressing the tender,

Under whispers soft that mellowed the night,

Breathing -

Into the melting darkness.

Time paused the rippling buds,

The echoes ringing all throughout,

Drunk on waves of Provencal wine,

On the colored paths of France.

But the voices echo against the dark,

The rippling echoes with no voice,

The world screams,

Of you and of us.

The poison drips down the heart,

The watering cracks leaking,

Of the promised innocence,

When the world laughed-

Oh so gaily!

A slow burn it plays,

Like scratches on an old record,

The voice dimmed but not lost -

Under the shadows,

Of what we named our own.

The sea waves lap hungrily,

Spitting foam against the rocks,

Holding in the monsooned heart,

Left and lost upon the deck,

Unclaimed. Unnamed.

Like a firefly -

Caught in a jar.
