i almost script your name as author

on the secret manual for breaking my heart

but it’s no secret i cannot keep away

from the summer heat or falling leaves

and a broken promise never spoken out loud

these halls are getting a little empty

now that your ghosts don’t haunt me around

now that i’m slowly forgetting the shape of your face

or the sound of your voice

piercing through my skin

it used to be easier

feeling torn apart

when i was in your arms

i break so much easier

when it was just you

not a summer apart
