"How You Break My Heart"

————————————

By Khawlah

How?

When your pupils dilated mirroring mine,

When our lips met the end of its line,

Oddly twitching upwards as we glanced from behind,

My heart beats on what it first sees at sight.

You.

I once look into the sky,

I remember seeing all birds and blue,

But somehow every now and every time,

Clouds started drawing the shade of you.

Break.

"Take my hand."

My heart was oddly quiet,

It should be pounding a lot more than it needs to,

When I questioned myself why would it do?

When it's not the face I always knew.

My.

Every little word,

Every ounce of affection,

Now seems to fade away like useless background,

The gallery stays open white-screened showing one portrait,

You and I should be in one frame,

But never one that came out prepared.

Heart.

She stepped into your life,

The heart monitor continues beating,

If you wished to once again press 'revive',

You'd notice how mine was described flatlining.

With every pain,

And every tear,
