How Can I Forgive Myself?

A heart falls into despair when falling into sin

So, it asks its caretaker for the wrong to be corrected

But I found my soul hiding behind my heart

Unsure of how to erase my past and restart

How can I forgive myself for mistakes I’ve committed?

O My Own Soul, this shame is a sign of a believer

It shows your heart isn’t dead - rather it’s very much alive

To forgive yourself you must connect with The Creator

You will only flourish in the path of His Light

For all the children of Adam (AS) commit sins

But the dwellers of Jannah are those who repent to Him

Ya Allah, I know You’ll catch me when I fall

All my mistakes, You said You’d Forgive it all

My big error was chasing perfection,

Giving my soul deep dissatisfaction

You Love not only to Forgive, but also to Pardon me

For repentance, You’ve always deemed me worthy

Ya ‘Afuw (O Pardoner),

Ya Ghafoor (O Much-Forgiving),

Ya Raheem (O Most Merciful),

Pardon me, Forgive me and Have Mercy on me

Because if You don’t Forgive me,

Then who’s going to Forgive me?

No one except You

I’ve forgiven myself thanks to You
