Colossal

Original Submission by Jenna Meiring

Vast, vicious, eternally hungry

Lurking deep beneath

to rise and breach the surface

colossal pockmarked skin glistens

by the light of a pale sun

What cosmic evil lies in wait

for the sun to rise, before

eclipsing it with its menace?

This beast of impossible proportions

awakens only to blight

Who can withstand such iniquity?

Who will survive its quiet malefaction?

What cosmic evil lures its prey

by lying in silent malignity, before

reaching up to pierce hope?
