I crave magic

the taste of hope on my tongue

I wish I still believed

but faith is a gift for the young

Time, that wretched thief

has stolen all I had

and I can’t imagine that beauty may one day return to me

I have gained little but strength

but strong as I have become, enchantment is so far away

I can no longer extend

I can no longer reach that far beyond (myself)

Magic is a gift of naivete

A grace we all forget

I crave magic, and yet…

Real is all I will get
