—A Téa Gardner tribute to friendship
For all the roads we’ve walked,
Some led through danger,
Some through dreams,
But we walked them side by side— Even when it wasn’t easy to believe.
I never had a Duel Disk strapped to my fate. No destiny carved in ancient stone. But I had your hands in mine,
And that, to me, felt like home.
I watched Yugi rise like dawn,
Gentle heart, fierce will,
Carrying a legacy he did not ask for— But never once stood still.
I stood with Joey, stubborn and true,
Every joke a shield, every duel a promise— That no matter how dark the night, He would fight ‘til morning found us.
Tristan—he would leap before he looked, But always with his fists for his friends. He would take the hit, block the path, If it meant we would reach the end.
Even Bakura, with the quiet soul,
And shadows hidden deep within, I never stopped believing in his light— In the boy he had always been.
We were never meant to be warriors, But friendship made us strong.
I did not need a monster on my field To know where I belong.
Because I stood in the cracks between duels, Where your hearts started to fade. And I reminded you who you were, When the darkness begged you to trade.
You fought with cards,
I fought with care.
You summoned power,
I stood there bare—
But I was never weak.
I was the echo of your hope.
I was the strength you did not see When you thought you could not cope.
So, if you ask what I brought to the table, It is this:
A hand to hold when the ground shook. A laugh to share when the sky cleared. A vow that no matter how far we go— I will always be here.
