Dreamstate

I have lost even my sight.

Dark omens have plagued my senses, and no one saw it coming,

at least not me.

Now that I am senseless and blind,

I recount the last memories in my head that I saw:

In the pond of still and murky rainwater, a little dot of blood red afloats,

a ladybug is struggling to pull its weight above the surface of the water,

round and round its little body of life goes,

flapping its weakened wings,

its antennas twisting like a drowning man‘s arm.

Silently,

its short spanned life enters the final countdown.

And there, against the warmth of the room

lit up by yellow lights with shut French windows,

a fly rushes around the entrapped room like a deer in headlights,

trapped in a foreign place of unfamiliarity,

being mistaken by death itself for dancing in celebration of its demise,

the mindless and breathless creature

is about to die...

Here, the sun never goes away,

and the house is never quiet,

my hand goes toward poetry, but my mind is restless,

my heart walks its little paved path to you.

While I walk slowly towards you,

you spare one last look at me and run off.
