The Lake

The lake swims in emeralds and sapphires,

the pine and fir trees come alive and breathe again under the heat

and exhale,

in & out,

in & out.

Pinecones drop and scatter around like lost stars in the unfathomable sky,

to be collected by…

The ones deep inside the woods are singing a song in a foreign language

while the sky casts diamonds across the lake.

Here everyone is smiling and laughing even as the sun burns their feet.

Their glistening bodies pale and white.

Long looks of eyes,

I look into my lover‘s eyes and he smiles too.
