Dreaming for the Stars in the Sky

(A Ghazal)

A glimpse of night, seen through gilded domes raised high-

naked to the wind, stars gleam in the sky.

Arabesques adorn the walls against the dry

grains of golden sand; earth's own stars from the sky.

Behind this domed cage I wonder, starry-eyed,

mapping equations amidst the star-veiled sky.

Others dream to claim celestial jewels as they

drink the shine of suns, moons, and stars in the sky.

________________

None dare yet; they seek questions whose answers lie

among soulless stars whose famed light wreathe the sky.
