I Wish to be Harvard’s Top Student

By Kierre Alexia S. Cuevas

My soul wishes to be drenched in crimson waters,

The mind wishfully drifted like the common thought daughter.

The body being tied into the elements of rust and trenches,

Carefully curated with yellowish white picket fences.

The heart grips the seams of maroon hues,

My spirit pleads to be one with the red views.

My dollar-store-bought pen writes in the darkest ink it ever had,

Just for the sake of the paper to be kissed in desires of fad.

The Statue of Three Lies deceives the world in front,

Failing to mimic those who are the epitome of blunt.

Yet those “Top 3 Lies” don’t lay within the statue,

They rank in the ghost of the Top 3 most valued.

With the clock starting 7 minutes later,

The land collapsed, as it was hit by a blue freighter.

Philosophies bleed a heart into scarlet pollutants,

In crimson waters I wallow, “I wish to be Harvard’s top student.”
