A Writer’s Pen

By Kierre Alexia S. Cuevas

Under the burning pains of anguish,

And the fake inks of love in selfish.

What’s left in a paper with words of foolish,

If all readers stuff words throat-in with a heart of famish?

If papers fall into these hands of gold,

What’s left for poems to be sold?

One enough to make money of till the age of old,

If none serenade the voices of what’s being told?

Wishes, wishing, wished,

Till all the shooting stars run out of mist.

If papers we read only show a gist,

How much ink do we need if a bag of words are missed?

And with papers covered in a writer’s blood,

Tears leak through pages with an unbearable flood.

And as the land’s being painted as a monet,

A closer glimpse of reality is how the strokes cover it.
