✍🏽42 a few good reasons

i could list before you a

hundred reasons i get lost in your gaze,

i could write to you a thousand poems

in hopes of defining the splendor found on

your face

but words in all of its weights and length

will never be sufficient

and so, i’d learn the rhythms of your

favorite song,

i would learn the movement of your lips

whenever it is

you had to sing that song

i’d deliberately miss the bus

to hold conversations with you,

and oh, i’d sacrifice my sleep if meant

teaching you anything you needed to know

i could tell you a hundred reasons

why you’re beautiful,

i could write you countless letters

to remind you of that

but that wouldn’t be much,

so, i’d would learn to speak the language

of your heart,

i would master the appropriate use of

of colors if your favorite thing

was visual art

and i would shower upon

you affections that would

brighten your soul,

the kind that will mend every bit

of your broken heart.
