मैं बनूँगी कृष्ण

ये कैसी कश्मकश है, ये कैसी उलझन है। (2)

नाराज़ हूँ, हाँ, मैं नाराज़ हूँ, शायद अपने से या अपनों से।

या शायद अपनी बुज़दिली से। बुज़दिल? मैं बुज़दिल नहीं हूँ।

मैंने कभी कुछ गलत नहीं किया।

लेकिन शायद एक गलती की है मैंने, बचपन से,

चुप रहने की।

चुप रहने की गलती की है मैंने,

उसकी सज़ा आज भी भुगत रही हूँ।

क्यों कोई मेरी ज़िंदगी में कृष्ण बनकर नहीं आया, (2)

और ये समझाया कि अपनों से लड़ना, तुम्हारी बत्तमीज़ी नहीं।

क्यों तुमने अपना हक छोड़ा? क्यों सबके आगे घुटने टेके?

सहना। सहना, अब ये मेरी ज़िंदगी का हिस्सा है।

लड़ती हूँ खुद से हर रोज़, हर पल (2)

आस्था डगमगाने लगती है, मेरी आस्था डगमगाने लगती है,

जब खुद को टूटता पाती हूँ।

सोचती हूँ, किस मिट्टी की बनी हूँ, किस मिट्टी की बनी हूँ,

क्यों सहती हूँ।

बस बहुत हुआ, बस बहुत हुआ अब।

अब उठना है, भिड़ जाना है। (2)

मेरी खामोशी को मेरी बुज़दिली न समझा जाए,

आगाह करती हूँ, मेरी खामोशी को मेरी बुज़दिली न समझा जाए।

ये तो तूफान के आने का आगाज़ है।

खैर, मेरी छोड़ो, मैं उम्र की उस दहलीज़ पर हूँ,

जहाँ इन गीले-शिकवों की कोई जगह नहीं।

पर सोचती हूँ, जो मेरे साथ हुआ, क्या वो मेरे बच्चों के साथ..........

नहीं, बिल्कुल नहीं, सोचती हूँ तो रूह काँपती है।

क्या ये मेरे जिगर के टुकड़ों के साथ भी होगा,

बिल्कुल नहीं।

मेरे जीवन में तो कोई कृष्ण बनकर नहीं आया,

मैंने इंतज़ार किया लेकिन मेरे जीवन में कोई कृष्ण नहीं आया,

पर अपने लाडलों के जीवन का कृष्ण मैं बनूँगी।

मैं बनूँगी कृष्ण, मैं बनूँगी कृष्ण।
