दरारों का सेतु

रिश्ता शायद वही है, जो दरार पर टिकता है,

जर्जर पुल होकर भी दो किनारों को जोड़े रखता है;

मैं अपनी ही भीतरी फाँक पर पग धरता आया,

जो मुझे बाँधता जाता है, वही मुझे बचाता है।

कौन किसे यहाँ थामे है, मैं उसको, कि वह मुझको?

मौन दर्पण-सा बैठा मेरे चेहरे को पढ़ता है चुपचाप;

जो जा चुका, वह धूल नहीं, स्मृति बन काँच में जलता है,

अनुपस्थिति का हाथ कभी उपस्थिति से गहरा है।

इच्छा कहती, छूट चलूँ; धर्म कहे, ठहरूँ, सहूँ,

यह कैसा नेह, जिसमें मैं बचते-बचते और बँधूँ?

नदी किनारों को मिलवाते-मिलवाते काट भी देती,

रिश्ता केवल स्पर्श नहीं, दूरी का भी अधिकार है।

तब जाना, यह शरण भी है, परीक्षा भी, प्रतिध्वनि भी;

घावों पर मरहम भर नहीं, भीतर बैठी साक्षी भी;

यह हर प्रश्न का उत्तर नहीं; उत्तरदायी करता है,

दीपक-सा, जितना डोलता है, उतना ही उजियाता है।

अब मैं उससे पूर्ण मिलन की अंतिम मुहर न माँगूँ;

जो सत्य बचे, बस उतना ही अपने भीतर थामूँ;

रिश्ता शायद इतना भर है, कोई मुझे मेरे सम्मुख

निर्वाद, निरावरण रख दे; और मैं उससे न भागूँ।
