Opening up,

It’s hard for me opening up.

I’ve never been honest when somebody close to me wonders what’s up. It’s like,

What do you think?

Me and depression perpetually link.

If you wanna know what I’ve truly been feeling,

It’s probably already written in ink.

I’d rather be quiet than open up about what’s in my head,

Because I don’t want no one to think that I’m crazy for living in dread.

I’d rather be quiet than open up about what’s on my mind,

Because I don’t want no one to think that I’m crazy for feeling behind.

You see, everyone’s out and about while I’m doubting the route that I’m on,

Thinking the value of me as a person is found in the talent of writing a song.

Thinking the value of me as a person is based on performance or making a hit.

Thinking the value of me as a person is based on importance or going legit.

It’s like,

What would you do if all you could offer was

Writing a rhyme,

Knowing that no one’ll listen unless you’ve got millions

Or millions are falling in line?

Opening up,

That ain’t what I usually do.

I’d rather be quiet and put it on paper,

Or let it keep building than tell it to you,

’Cause I never liked

Opening up.
