i paid twenty thousand dollars

to have someone pull my eyes out

the short-sighted part, anyway

so i’ll be able to see better

the spreadsheets, the pivot tables,

and if that person at the bus stop was truly you

i paid twenty thousand dollars

only to buy more drops in the future

to ease the kind of dryness

my real tears cannot
