When Spring bid Adieu!!!
--- by Padmaraj Meethal
One Spring afternoon, with daylight mild,
I stroked the keys, like a playful child,
When all at once a few feet behind,
A velvety voice whispered so kind.
My glance met hers, caught by surprise,
The world stood still before her eyes.
In that brief moment, like mustard in oil,
My heart awakened, from its coil.
Her curly hair, danced in the air
Like a Tango, my thoughts in a flare.
Light brown eyes, a gentle frown,
Flips a Lion, into a Clown.
I chased the bus she rode each day,
Just for a gaze, just to stay.
We rode a train through distant land
Steel tracks drumming camaraderie in a band.
I met her where the bells would ring,
A temple built for the mighty King.
Draped in Pink, prayed the Queen,
I blushed around, the moment so serene.
I watched her work, the screen aglow,
Soft light would paint her face in glow.
She smiled at thoughts the world couldn’t see,
Unknowing she meant the world to me.
But seasons turn and trees shed,
And even first love starts to bled.
The day arrived I feared to say-
The day my tears bid “goodbye”.
With memories etched in eternal time,
It cast a spell for thy lifetime.
Moments of frenzy, framed in a hue,
Like the water in a lake, so pristine blue!
With passing time, I stare at the blue sky,
"Oh Mademoiselle! Why oh Why? ".

A Walk to Remember
--- by Padmaraj Meethal
I set out for a little walk, along the perimeter of a lovely park.
With a frenzied mind and a sullen heart, I stared at the fallen bark.
Amazed at the sight of the beautiful fall, leaves of all shades akin to a painted wall.
Not a single blade of grass, peeked through the carpeted mass.
Spellbound by my sight, I said, "Of all seasons, Ohh Fall! You are colorful of all!”
I set out for a little walk, through the woods in a snow covered path.
The freezing wind and biting cold, kept my thoughts uncontrolled.
Trees stripped bare, shades of white all around, a lonely snowman keeps awake.
Amidst the snow, the only glow, is the sound of bells and Christmas flare.
Enthralled by my sight, I said, "Of all seasons, Ohh Winter! You are glacial of all!”
I set out for a little walk, through the dry grasslands on a beaten path.
The scorching sun and menacing drought, never an impediment for the Sunflower to bow-out.
Fishing in the lakes, snoozing in the hammock, biking by the bay, makes it a day.
Building sandcastles and planning outdoor grills, there is not a soul who is spared of these thrills!
Delighted by my sight, I said, "Of all seasons, Ohh Summer! You are the vibrant of all!”
I set out for a little walk, through my garden, to hear the birds talk.
The dancing rain and smell of earth, could bring to life any dozing Wordsworth!
Blooming Roses and buzzing Bees, fills my heart like a joyful breeze.
The charming Cuckoo and colorful Butterflies, makes the earth a lovely paradise!
Enchanted by my sight, I said "Of all seasons, Ohh Spring! You are the Queen of all!”
I set out for a little walk, with a little companion for a talk.
I sang him the song of seasons, he stared with lot of reasons.
A naughty smile, innocent look, after much thoughts,
Swiftly, he replied, "Of all I know, Ohh Papa! You are the sweetest dad of all!”
With a kiss on my cheek and a ride on my shoulder, together, it was a walk to remember!

The Sniper
--by Padmaraj Meethal
One breezy morning, between a mountain pass
The silence of Fall, broken by the rumbling mass
Through the crunchy foliage, marched the enemy in a deft
Left Right Left, Left Right Left!
Miles away, beside a stream, perched on a treetop
Draped in hues of Yellow, Green and Orange among the raindrop
Scanning through the scope of a black stainless-steel barrel
Lay the Cuckoo, ready to play the Christmas Carol!
Keen ears, observant eyes, he followed what was taught
Until a gust of wind blew his thought!
Dreamt of his father, a source of wisdom
A magician, an inspiration who wrought freedom
In turbulent times, when the sea was rough
He was there...held my hand through the tough!
Oh Mama! my source of strength
You are a miracle, always at arm’s length
As I sailed up and down, like a Dove
You were there, an epitome of unconditional love.
Like a streak of lightening, you stole my heart
Light brown eyes, rosy lips, my sweetheart!
Biking by the lake, flying in the sky, always by my side
You kept me on a high, until we bid goodbye!
Left Right Left, Left Right Left
Heard the Marksman, a rattle of chains from the west.
One final battle, one special ammunition
Shouldered on the sniper, lay the hopes of a nation!
The approaching battalion, clear in his vision
Ready to surprise, object of this mission
With target in sight, order from his command,
The trigger was pulled, to save his Fatherland!
The bullet kissed the mark and set a glow
Like an avalanche the souls were trapped in an inferno
Amidst the crossfire, a fatal shot from the foe
Pierced the head, he fell below!
He lay in silence, in solitude
Beneath the flag, with the weight of a nation's gratitude
Deep in his slumber, away from action
Rests a hero in eternal satisfaction.
Left right Left, Left right Left
Marched his comrades as he slept!
