Unyielding Hope

I walk with a smile though the climb is hard,

I watch the street lights slowly start sinking.

My body carries the quiet weight of pain,

Yet in my chest there lives a stubborn hope,

I look beyond the struggle towards a future,

Refusing to give in to every cry.

The night gathers around me with a heavy cry,

And standing through the storm is always hard.

When dreams feel distant in an unseen future,

And my spirit feels as though it might be sinking,

I hold to faith as my remaining hope,

Knowing a higher power knows my pain.

The Sovereign hand reaches into my pain,

Hearing the unspoken depth of my every cry.

In Him alone I anchor all my hope,

When times of testing make the journey hard.

Though beneath poverty the world is sinking,

He holds the blueprint for a brighter future.

I walk as a child of a promised future,

Rising above the history of my pain.

When shadows fall and confidence is sinking,

I lift my face, silent in my cry,

Because the battle makes my spirit so hard,

Refined like gold through unshakable hope.

No circumstance can strip away this hope,

For He who guides me owns the coming future.

Though daily bread is earned by striving hard,

And scars remind me of a lingering pain,

A song of victory drowns out the cry,

Lifting the soul that felt like it was sinking.

An African heart refuses to keep sinking,

Rooted in grace that multiplies my hope.

Above the trial sounds a more than conqueror’s cry,

Declaring that the morning brings a future.

He walks inside me through the darkest pain,

And strengths me whenever life gets hard.

Though life is hard, my heart is never sinking;

Through every pain, He is hope, And for my future, He will hear my cry.
