Twisted

They call it overthinking.

I call it watching every word return with a different face.

They say, “It's all in your head.”

Maybe...

But why does my heart keep recognizing what my mind tries so hard to deny?

I don't know which hurts more:

the truth I see,

or the way I'm always told I never saw it at all.

I keep questioning myself,

hoping I'm wrong.

Because being right

has never brought me peace.

They close their eyes and fall asleep.

I close mine

and meet every thought

I've been trying to forget.

If only silence

could be louder

than the noise

inside my mind.
