To Be

Original Submission by Nuria Patel

To Be…

Living a life full of stress.

Devoid of appreciation.

Constant deprecation.

Never ending frustration.

In search of motivation.

In a state of depression.

As a soul with no direction.

All these questions.

With no clear solutions.

Thinking:

“Why me?”

“This isn’t fair”

“It doesn’t make sense”

It’s the matter of perspective.

The more fortunate than me.

Less fortunate than she.

More fortunate than he.

The less fortunate than we.

Understanding:

“Why not me?”

“This is just”

“It is as it should be”

What is this life if not a test.

All we’re expected to do is try our best.

To be a Muslim

Is to experience

A religion of unwavering faith in every space.

The feeling of peace in any place.

Fulfilling the Sunnah of a smile on our face.

Moving through life with nothing but grace.

To be a Muslim

Is to share

An indescribable feeling.

The unparalleled gift of giving.

The appreciation from receiving.

An absolute blessing.

To be a Muslim

Is to say

Subhanallah.

Alghamdullilah.

Allahu Akbar.

From our Creator.

For our Creator.

To our Creator.

There is none worthy of worship besides our Creator.

To be a Muslim

Is to live the answer:

Allah (SWT) is my Lord.

Muhammad (SAW) is my Prophet.

Islam is my Religion.

The Quran is my Book (and Guide).

To Be… a Muslim
