The Swimmer

He the swimmer

She the sea

Unaccustomed to the deep end,

He wades where his feet find ground

Curiosity bowing to Fear,

He stays safe and sound.

No lessons taken,

No boat rented.

No worldview shaken,

He swims contented.

She glimmers under the sun

She sends ships crashing under

She is home to life beyond,

and roars like rolling thunder.

An anchor to sunsets

Reflections of pinks and yellows,

Yet, she beats day and night

Meeting him at the shallows.

Tale as old as time,

She moves evermore toward the shore.

While he stays safely afloat

Leaving most of her unexplored.
