The Storms I Folded

I folded my storms

into neat little squares,

carried in a handbag,

as if it were the motivation.

I learned to swallow hurts

without making a sound,

but with a small ache

in the chest,

where loneliness turned

into productivity.

I laughed at the fantasy

I accidentally held,

making tea

for my own soul.

Not because

I can stand alone,

but because

I learned to stand alone.

And this time,

I won’t pretend

I am not home.
