The Promise

I can promise you everything

I can't promise you the moon.

Can't promise you the stars,

Which one would describe as already being yours as you've gathered their very sparkle in your eyes.

I can't promise you my body,

Nor can I my heart...

I can't even promise you my mind

For these are not mine to give

To say I have ownership would be the very lie I would have used in my past life to reel you in...hook, line and sinker.

I have nothing that belongs to me

I believe it was given to be given again

Perhaps, I can only let my yes be yes

As it was intended to be since my very beginning
