The Heartbeat of the Earth

The stone trembles before the awakening.

Under the weight of the darkness,

a root weaves its silent revolution,

it does not strike, it does not cry out,

it simply flourishes where the asphalt swore to reign.

The river has the long memory of water.

It does not know the margins

of human will,

it seeks the sea to become freedom,

carving the rock with only the weight of its journey.

We are the subtle shadow of a step on the sand,

a light breath upon a pulsating earth.

Yet the wind passes through us without seeing us,

while the ocean, calm,

reclaims possession of the borders of the world.

No chain is needed for the infinite.

The earth does not take revenge,

it does not punish,

it only breathes;

and in that immense breath

every certainty of ours turns to dust.
