Every Dead Persons Wants Their Story to Be Told

Eleven-year-old Marianne went swimming with her family on a scorching Sunday afternoon at Paradise Hotel in Swan, next to Diddy’s Sip and Chat Bar.

Adults laughed and chatted among themselves, enjoying the afternoon, while the children splashed around in the pool, tossing a multicoloured beach ball back and forth.

‘’It’s time to eat, children!’’ Marianne’s grandmother called out.

One by one, the children climbed out of the pool and hurried towards their waiting meal.

But one child was missing.

‘’Where is Marianne?’ her grandmother asked.

A wave of confusion swept through the gathering as everyone began looking around.

Marianne was nowhere to be seen…

CHAPTER 1

‘’I remembered growing up as a kid was very awkward for me. I didn’t have many friends in school. I was a tomboy, and the girls in y class never wanted to play with me. They would bully me and make fun of me.

Sometimes, they would tell me to stand behind the blackboard and count from one to ten. But before I could finish counting, they would run away, leaving me standing there all alone.

I desperately wanted to fit in with the popular girls, so I started making up stories, hoping they would gather around me and listen. Unfortunately, that didn’t work out so well either. Eventually, they discovered that my stories weren’t true.

But there was one story I never made-up. It was the story of the clown.

Every night, the clown would enter my room while I was lying on the floor. Yes, I slept on the floor.

My father had rented a two-bedroom house in Kuma. We had a large family, and there wasn’t enough space for everyone to have a bed. So, the only place left for me to sleep was on the wooden floor.

I would spread some old clothes on the floor to cushion my body and make myself as comfortable as possible.

Every night, the clown would appear in my room and drag me into the living room. Then somehow, I would wake up and find myself lying near the bedroom door.

CHAPTER 2

I started my family at a very young age. By the age of twenty, I already had my beautiful daughter, Zena.

After giving birth to my baby girl, Zena, we returned home from the hospital. At the time, I was still living with my mother, as I had not yet gotten married. I shared a bedroom with my two older twin sisters.

It was after that night I realized I was born different.

My baby was only four days old when I had a strange dream. In the dream, I saw a naked, pregnant young woman who appeared to be around my age. She looked very young, and I could clearly see the anguish on her face.

She didn’t speak, but her expression told me everything. She was in terrible pain. It was as though she was experiencing the agony of childbirth.

I watched as she places her hands against her chest and pushed with all her strength. Not a single sound escaped her lips, but the pain was written all over her face.

The first night, she was unsuccessful.

She returned the following night, but her second attempt was another failure.

Three days passed, and the mysterious young woman vanished from my dream.

One of my twin sisters normally went to bed late at night. On this particular Wednesday, she was preparing for a meeting scheduled for the following day.

It was around 11:30pm.

She threw her clothes onto the bed where my baby and I were sleeping. Both of us were sound asleep.

A cool breeze was blowing through the bedroom window, so she walked over to close it.

But when she turned around, she froze.

Standing there, beside the bed, was the same young naked, pregnant woman I had seen in my dreams.

The mysterious woman stood silently, staring at me and my sleeping baby.

CHAPTER 3

The news headline spread across the internet like wildfire: ‘’Eleven Year-Old Marianne Drowned Yesterday Afternoon at Paradise Pool.’’

Tension grew across the country as rumours began circulating that Marianne had not drowned but had been murdered. The shocking news spread rapidly across television, radio, and social media.

Angry citizens took to the streets, demanding justice. It was devastating for Marianne’s family. Losing a child is never easy, especially under such suspicious circumstances.

Six months passed, and justice had still not been served.

According to the autopsy report, Marianne had drowned in the pool. However, something strange raised suspicion. Her body was discovered the following morning, even though she had reportedly drowned the previous afternoon.

Even more puzzling was the fact that Marianne’s body had not been seen in the pool until the next morning.

A year passed, and everything seemed to have settled down. The streets grew quiet, the protest faded, and Marianne’s death slowly disappeared from the headlines.

But the mystery was far from over.
