The good old fool

This must be a joke

He has so much stuff

So much to give

Yet still wants more

This must be a joke

How could I not see behind the lens?

That he was not humble

Nor did he remember God

This must be a joke

His goods can’t hold in the barn anymore

He still won’t give any away

But I don’t understand why

This must be a joke

I heard something terrible yesterday

The rich old fool said

Finally I can rest easy and be merry

This must be a joke

There are so many hungry souls

Yet it’s like he doesn’t see it

Probably he doesn’t even care

This must be a joke

What do you mean he’s dead?

Is it what he said yesterday?

I guess in his sleep he’s finally merry

Maybe in his death

He is finally a merry old fool
