The flaming soul

Like one soul recognizing another across lifetimes, who are you? Like warm rain falling into the hollow of me, who are you?

Are you the moon I chase on midnight wings?

The honey sleeping inside a flower?

Or the new dream my heart has been afraid to name?

You are everywhere.

In the quiet of my eyes.

In the echo of my ears.

In the chambers of my heart.

You fall through me like endless rain,

Unceasing, unending —

My eternal flame, spreading, settling, staying.

Oh my beloved,

You are the fire that does not burn, but holds my soul. You are the ember, the sweet sting,

Love, lit beneath my skin.

Walk now as my shadow.

Flow now as the river of my life.

Let me find you, always, beside me.

You are everywhere.

In the quiet of my eyes.

In the echo of my ears.

In the chambers of my heart.

Like endless rain.

Like my eternal flame.

In me. Always.
