The Final Goodbye

I came back not to

ask you to take me back.

I came back to

apologize for the things I lack.

I came back to

say I’m sorry for the pain I caused.

for the wounds and the tears,

for the moments we lost.

I came back to

tell you I am a changed man today.

I came back to

say goodbye before I walk away.

I am not running from you,

I am just trying to break the chain.

Because you are too precious

to be in pain, again.
