The Evolution of Embarrassment

A teenager sneaks a glance at their crush and quickly looks away,

Convinced the whole world noticed that half-second display.

An adult carefully crafts moments to catch that special eye,

By forty, they stare openly and don't even try to lie.

A teenager battles an itch like it's a test of will,

Smiling through the discomfort while sitting perfectly still.

An adult hints that something feels a little odd today,

By forty, they scratch wherever needed and carry on their way.

A teenager plans their outfit like a celebrity on display,

Even a quick trip outside can consume half the day.

An adult dresses for the occasion and the photos too,

By forty, comfort picks the outfit; seniors ask, "Who's coming to see you?"

A teenager holds a fart long enough to deserve a medal,

An adult starts looking for an exit like they're escaping a battle.

By forty, they release it proudly and continue the conversation,

While seniors provide the soundtrack with absolute dedication.

A teenager pinches nose to sneeze pretending it’s all okay,

An adult checks who's watching before they start to dig and play.

By forty, they conduct a thorough excavation without a trace of shame,

While seniors inspect the results like they've won a scientific game.

The funny thing about growing older isn't wisdom, wealth, or grace,

It's realizing embarrassment slowly loses the race.

What starts as panic over every look, itch, sound, and slip,

Ends with leading by example: "Relax, life evolves" on every trip.

Let's not judge the scratch, the stare, the sniff, or flatulation,

They're all just proof we're members of the same human association.

No matter the gender, age, or the label that we claim,

We're equally odd, equally lovable, with embarrassing moments to our name.
