The Dreams She Planted

By : Aishah Jamal

She carried a thousand dreams beneath the morning skies,

A hunger to teach, to learn, to help young minds arise.

She wished to know the world, then pass its wonders on,

Plant a seed of courage long after she was gone.

They said she wasn’t good enough,

That some were born for greatness,

Their words fell like the winter rain,

But she refused to let their doubts drown her deeply.

For teaching was not glory nor the praise to earn,

It was the child who dared to ask longed to learn.

It was the struggling soul who finally understood,

The little spark that whispered, “Maybe I, too, can be good.”

She kept learning and teaching though the road was steep,

For promises she made to children were promises to keep,

She gave them more than lessons from a page,

She taught them they could shape the world.

If one day they rise beyond the dreams they used to know,

Becoming who they longed to be, with confidence to grow,

Then let the world remember this, when all her days are through,

She was never just a teacher. She helped their dreams come true.
