THE DEATH OF LANGUAGES

(A Poem.)

We’ve forgotten the scent of paper and ink

When passion straggles behind, so too does the desire to think

The script blurs and bleeds, so the language dies The modern font is weaponised

We are the ignorant and the shallow

The doomed man, slung, dopey in the gallow

Dancing without a trace of heart or a whisper of soul We stand alone, bemused in the cold

I want only for less, which means wanting for more Take me back to the before

Before, before, before, before

To the pensive and sunny days of yore

Before, before, before, before

Where ballads, vision and art are lore
