Caption For Artwork (Description About Artwork): "The Deafening Canvas" is a surreal water colour (on art-paper) artwork that aims to spread awareness on noise pollution. Noise pollution increases the pressure in the ear, which leads to damage of hair cells, fluid shift and ear drum rupture leading to deafness. The miners, speakers and loud sound waves in the painting symbolize noise pollution; the Gems represents the damaged parts of the ear. Just as miners excavate valuable resources from the earth, noise pollution gradually erodes our precious auditory faculties, leading to deafness.
