The Consecrated Silence

The flowers, once exquisite, now lie on the floor,

Their redolence has vanished, they enchant no more.

I watch them now, and it throws me into concern,

For what was once beautiful, now feels prosaic in turn.

The oppressive leaves of this tree are falling apart,

Yet the heart inside still glorifies the scene.

A pallor has come upon its face, a deep, quiet agony,

And the luminescence it once held now devours the whole forest within me.

However, I still venerate it,

For it was once a part of me.

My hope lay wilted, my voice was burned,

But my soul did not bow.
