Still At Sea

Title: Still at Sea

Waves,

Violently crashing onto my boat.

I held tightly to the rope,

steering right,

steering left,

until it found its balance again.

Waves,

Now gently rocking my boat.

I loosened my grip but not my hope,

looked right,

looked left,

until I saw rotating rays of dim and bright light.

From a distant lighthouse,

it cast a shadow

of me and my boat upon the waters.

the shadow then reached the shore,

But me and my boat

still drifting at sea dragging the achor.

The wind is in my favor,

The current flows gently.

I have the helm,

But truly,

What am I waiting for?

Waves,

rippling the shadows away

from the shore.

For a moment, it felt like I was there,

then I wasn’t.

Am I waiting for sunrise?

Isn’t the lighthouse enough?
