Sonnet #8 - Water

Such enormity in your existence.

You cover the Earth with your calm beauty.

But once the banks break, there’s no stopping your persistence,

And there’s no reasoning with your impunity.

Blue, brown, green, or red,

Your body is something to marvel.

Tame or torrential, your fierce ability to spread

Is as entertaining as it is dreadful.

Many hours I have spent

Just looking at you.

Inhaling your scent,

And philosophising on all the things you can do.

To many, you’re just water,

But once unleashed, you possess a dramatic ability to slaughter.
