At the brink of dawn
is when I start thinking of the most
I see you out here
grinding, winning and doing the most
I’m sorry, sometimes my head has the control and I’m just a host,
But it hurts to think of you and how you just turned ghost,
Even though it kind of switched every time we got to the coast
I still remember the energy radiated,
how you had me levitating by the smile you kindled.
The laughter could be heard all in the atmosphere you created
You had my chest thumping, roaring and pumping
like the sparks of New Year,
just brightly coloured lighting
The words begged to leave the tips of my mouth,
but my head started bubbling ideas of doubt.
There were days when I wanted to scream and shout,
and all the words would just come flying out
And you’d hold my hand just to have to mouth to mouth
I would rest in your arms and we’d cancel reality out
And we’d watch the stars until the moon dials down and the sun comes out
Maybe things would’ve been different, and I wouldn’t be carrying all this baggage,
Or maybe we just weren’t meant to have it.
You made me better for someone else
But if it came down to it, you’d have the best version no doubt.
it seems we only begin and end where the ocean reaches
So, at the coast and where the water collides is where we’ll leave it
