________________

People think He is a brute force clothed in darkness,

but no,

He, in fact, smells like sweet Peach Blossoms,

covered in a white cloak of warmth and comfort.

He has paid me a visit one too many times.

I can still hear that engine,

still smell the oil,

but mostly, I can still feel the weight of the vehicle hovering over me,

one small mistake and it was over.

I had already believed it was over until I looked around.

Worried faces and scared children.

I looked at myself,

dusty and blooded, a concussion and confusion on the rise.

I turned to look up but the white vehicle had already disappeared,

And so was the rest of my childhood with that memory,

But the feeling never went away,

and a child is left scarred for life.

A couple of years later, He came to visit once again.

Thoughts were incoherent, emotions uncontrollable but the decision was final.

A tall cooling glass accompanied by what seemed to be my fate.

No sounds

No faces

Twelve different pills were in one hand,

contemplating to add more.

I wanted to stop but The Voices told me NO,

and I devoured without second thought.

That is when I felt it.

My mind went fuzzy,

Breathing uneven,

Feeling every cell in my body moving in like patterns,

and that is when I realized:

This was it. The End of it All

Just then, He showed up:

Peach Blossoms and a White Cloak

He said it was time, and everything went dark.

Instead of it being over,

I woke up the next morning in my bed.

Sweat bands building up,

with nothing but a memory and a feeling that won’t go away

Three summers later, I find myself on Grandma’s patio

trying to keep myself from bleeding out.

I was surprisingly calm,

Too calm, considering the commotion around me.

My head went dizzy and I dropped to the floor.

There it was again,

but this time it was just Peach Blossoms.

Had He had enough?

Or maybe He was just playing His little mind games again.

Over the years I had become His personal form of entertainment

A decision is made,

He arrives.

And yet I still manage to see the next day.

Sometimes He will not let me take the decision of Death,

but rather, the decision of pain.

So, He evaluates me,

just to see how badly I can damage a body part.

Anger multiplied by Sadness will Equal the level of a Breakdown, and will therefore result in the Damage Level of flesh or bone,

His simple Equation, and it always works.

This is my story,

How I was able to cheat Death.

No one can really cheat Death,

And I know it isn’t over

because He’s always around.

Waiting and lurking.

He always makes plans,

calculating His little cat-mouse game, but somehow, I always manage to “escape” His trap.

Or is that what He wants me to think?

I know He will not go away until I slip up and He’s satisfied.

Or just until He finds the whole tedious,

and the sick cat-mouse chase finally closes its Final Chapter:

Peach Blossoms and a White Cloak
