Some day

Someday
I have never held your hand,
yet somehow my heart has already made room for you.
Not because I need saving,
but because love has always felt like a place
I was meant to come home to.
I dream of ordinary miracles.
Of dancing barefoot in the kitchen
while dinner cools on the stove,
laughing when we miss the rhythm,
finding music in the clatter of dishes
and the quiet between our smiles.
I dream of hearing little feet
race through the halls we've made a home,
of carrying your children beneath my heart,
of one day hearing a tiny voice
call me Mom
and realizing that all at once
my heart learned a language
it had never spoken before.
I dream of growing old,
not in grand adventures alone,
but in the countless small moments
that become a lifetime.
I think of my grandmother and grandfather-
how years folded gently into decades,
how love was never measured
by flowers or promises,
but by kindness repeated every day.
He never raised a hand to her,
never pointed a finger in anger,
because respect was the first language they spoke,
and love was patient enough
to listen.
That is the love I pray for.
A love that feels safe.
A love that chooses gentleness
when the world is loud.
A love that never makes me question
whether I am cherished.
I don't long for perfection.
I long for the quiet certainty
of reaching across the bed in the middle of the night
and finding your hand there.
For wrinkles earned from years of laughing.
For birthdays celebrated in the same home.
For coffee shared before sunrise.
For every ordinary day
made extraordinary simply because
we lived it together.
If love is beautiful,
it is not because it is effortless.
It is beautiful because two hearts
wake up each morning
and choose one another again.
So until that day arrives,
I will keep believing.
That somewhere,
there is a kitchen waiting for our first dance.
A house waiting to become a home.
Children waiting to teach us
how much bigger love can grow.
And a lifetime waiting to prove
that the gentlest love stories
are often the greatest ones ever written.
