Seventy!

Three scores and ten, I’ve been on this earth,

Three scores and ten, I was granted to serve.

I think I’ve done the best that I could,

I’ve played my part just as I should.

So many things I’ve seen with these eyes,

Some good and some bad but still I’ve survived.

I’ve seen the joy of a mother at birth,

I’ve seen the pain of a nation, deprived from all it was worth.

I’ve seen my children grow into men.

I’ve seen my grandchildren, how I love spoiling them.

I’ve met many people, some became friends,

I’ve lived a great life, there’s no need for amends.

I’ve still got a long way to walk with my Lord,

My life has a purpose or so I’ve been told.

So I’ll follow that star, wherever he leads,

Another score or two if this be the need.

Cos with Him as my guide, I’ll not slip by the way,

Thru joy, pain or sorrow, at my side He will stay.

He promised me this a long time ago,

So I’m walking this path with my face all aglow!
