Save the Human Empire

Original Submission by Angela Krueger

Save the Human Empire

The birds are flying low

The animals are laying low

And we've reached a new low

They seem frantic

Not the people

Some see nothing tragic

"Smells like a campfire"

"It won't last long" says the town crier

He's preaching to the choir

But it smells like something dire

We've caused this quagmire

We're right under the wire

So close, getting higher and higher

Running out of time

To conspire

A way to fix this grave misfire

At nature, our planet, ourselves

Birds' wings flapping faster than I've ever seen

As if it were possible to get to safety

Maybe for now

They can head south

But I have to inquirer

What happens when it gets dryer?

When everything that is satire

is no longer funny

Because the outrageous is real

And the reality is we are killing the earth

Sooner or later life will expire

We don't know what to do

Most of us are good

We have the desire

We want to save our planet

But the corporations that hire

Politicians require

A certain level

of cooperation to transpire

Like liar, liar pants on fire

And do we really need another AI flyer?

Meanwhile the Earth is literally on fire

Can someone get me an amplifier?

I said we're on fire

Forests turning into pyre

Better get an air purifier

What will it take to inspire

A revolution to save the planet

Our home

The human empire

To respect nature

Because we are nature

All living beings

are connected

to everything

We are the whole entire

Earth
