her eyes
Original Submission by Ethan Naidoo
Maybe it was her eyes, though I barely stared into them
but I can’t deny the butterflies,
her presence made it better both the highs and the lows
I know we made a deal, I hope I can amend it
I don’t want to be just a friend
when we say us I see a word in front of friend
she doesn’t, I'm just an easy number to dial
I'll be in denial for a little while
my heart’s a little brittle but I'm tired of the hospital
I know I'm wired differently, but is it wrong that I desired what I can’t have?
Maybe I'll go back to when I said hi with a pat on her head
even though I was threatened with a bat by a crybaby
I just like the way she struts like she’s the most important person in the room
I think that haircut would have suited her too but I’m somewhat biased
despite the highest level of corny humor
we take long walks but I want them to be lifelong
I prolong this song because I know she won’t be mine
I grew a spine though, maybe just once a wine and dine
but its fine lets just relive that night
nine shots, well one for you
perhaps its your height but you got a lot of fight in you with just a sip
you looked me in the eye and said lets take a flight
I want to be your knight but you treat me like a kite
you’re asleep right now and I'm left to write
lets take that flight
it feels right
why not tonight
let me live my delusion for a little longer
lets take another drive you’ll have to forgive me but you make me feel alive
my conclusion is a goodbye, watching you thrive from afar
why? Well, my heart wants you to have more than me
I won’t die, I'll just stare at the sky alone for awhile
maybe I have to be the bad guy
I still want to be by your side when you cry
I just can’t bare the bye
forget the rhyming
there was a boy that loved a girl
the girl didn’t love him
so the boy in agony stayed as close as she would let him
it sounds cruel but that boy had hope
while it hurt, being near her made it worth it
for the first time in his life he did not let fear dictate his actions
this boy often thought emotionless
fell in love
with a girl that looks past him
thank you god for emotion
even if it hurts like hell
I still think your name suits your eyes
